Alaíde Foppa de Solorzano was a Guatemalan poet, art critic, broadcaster, feminist, professor, translator, and human rights advocate. She fled Guatemala for Mexico after the coup of 1954. Returning for a visit in 1980, tragically, she was kidnappedreportedly by Guatemalan intelligenceand never seen again. This book was first published in Mexico in 1979; as Foppa disappeared in the mid-December, 1979 and Berrigan's foreword acknowledges this, we believe his foreword to be new to this edition. Both, however, are uncommon: *OCLC* locates only six copies of this edition.
