Housed in the publisher's plum silk folding slipcase with imitation ivory clasps. One of 52 lettered copies, lettered A-ZZ, signed by Eudora Welty. This is copy X, as… stated on the limitation page. Laid in, as issued, is the original gelatin silver photograph "At Bowen's Court, County Cork, Ireland," printed from Welty's original negative, with Welty's ink stamp on verso. A fine example of the rare deluxe issue. (Polk, Bibliography, A36:1d). "Photographs" gathers more than 200 black-and-white images taken largely during the 1930s, when Welty traveled through Mississippi and the American South working as a publicity agent for the Works Progress Administration. The book was issued by the University Press of Mississippi in several formats: a trade issue, a signed limited issue of 375 numbered copies and 26 lettered copies in cloth with slipcase, and this deluxe issue of 52 lettered copies in full leather with the original gelatin silver print. The deluxe signed limited issue of Photographs by Eudora Welty, with foreword by Reynolds Price. (illustratore). Signed.
