Forsdyke, Keeper of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the British Museum: "This book is an essay on Greek and Roman Portrait Sculpture illustrated by material in the British Museum. It will therefore serve also for a Guide to the portraits exhibited in various Galleries of Greek and Roman Antiquities: the Greek Portrait Corridor, the third Graeco-Roman Room, the Roman Gallery, and the Terracotta, Bronze, and Gem Rooms. The most important examples are reproduced in the plates." The author, R. P. Hinks, was the Assistant Keeper of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the British Museum.
