Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. First Edition. (blue cloth; no dust jacket, probably as issued) [nice copy, just a touch of handling wear]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author/composer on the ffep: "June 28, 1971 / To Sonny Burke: / I hope you'll like / this book -- and if you study it very / carefully, you'll find your music will be / better than it sounds. / Larry Fotine." Fotine (1911-1990) led his own orchestra from 1948 to 1955, and was a prolific songwriter with over 300 tunes to his credit; he also worked for a couple of years as an arranger for Lawrence Welk. The inscribee, Sonny Burke (1914-1980), was an arranger, composer, big band leader and producer; as musical director for Reprise Records (and afterwards) he was associated with Frank Sinatra in the creation of more than a dozen albums over the course of twenty years.
