Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good-. Front cover creased; light wear at foot of spine. Sticker ghost on inside of front cover, else interior clean and unmarked. Includes an index. 190 pages. Interviews with Oscar Ichazo (1931-2020), a Bolivian philosopher and metaphysical teacher who founded Arica School in Chile in 1968. In this collection of interviews, conducted by journalists and members of Arica, Ichazo discusses a wide range of social and historical topics related to the search for enlightenment. He talks about his life and the experiences which led to his prominence as a philosopher and mystic. He describes journeys to Eastern strongholds of esoteric knowledge, experiences with shamans and meeting with masters, the underlying unity of the high cultures and traditions, the dynamic structure of the psyche, the nature and purpose of a mystical school, and the coming of a 'metasociety'.
Hardcover. Condizione: Used - Very Good. The sheer vulnerability of the flat hilltop site of the Crowley residence in Marfa, Texas, inspired architect Carlos Jimenez to design a one-story structure with a focus on boundaries and limits. Completed in 2004, the house integrates interior and exterior spaces with an elongated layout that defines two distinct courtyards, creating a simultaneously intimate and expansive space. Built primarily of concrete, stucco, galvanized steel and Ipe wood, the house is a shaded sanctuary offering breathtaking views of rolling grass dunes, chiseled mountain ranges and the Chihuahuan desert while withstanding Marfa's intense weather conditions. Constant variations in light, provided in abundance by the Southwest Texas sun, enrich the interior life of the Crowley home throughout the day while native vegetation around the house provides shade and camouflage for the exterior. Sited on a hilltop overlooking the vast and compelling landscape of Marfa, Texas, the Crowley House is a refuge amid its beautiful and harsh surroundings. The design solution ameliorates these conditions in subtle and precise ways, constructing a place where architecture and landscape become a truly interwoven experience. The back cover has a stain from the removal of price tag.
