Condizione: Good. Autographed. 4to. 96 pp. Very Good+. Hard Cover. Beige cloth covered boards with B&W plate laid in. B&W plates throughout. Signed on half-title page.American photographer Nicholas Nixon (born 1947) is best known for The Brown Sisters, his ongoing series of annual portraits of his wife Bebe and her three sisters (recently exhibited and published by The Museum of Modern Art). But Nixon's wider oeuvre has been less well documented. Long overdue, 'Nicholas Nixon: About forty years' will be the first publication to focus on the broader swath of Nixon's more than 40-year career. In a published statement about photography written in 1975, Nixon remarked, "The world is infinitely more interesting than any of my opinions about it." To present the world as he sees it--in fascinating, precise and often startling detail--Nixon has consistently used unwieldy large-format cameras, with negatives measuring 8 x 10 inches or 11 x 14 inches. His recurring subjects--cities seen from above, people on their porches, landscapes, portraits of the very young and the very old--are woven together throughout his career like the cords of a cable. Nixon's large-format black-and-white photography is simultaneously intimate, technically precise and somehow relaxed. Beautifully designed and with exquisitely reproduced images, 'About forty years' presents the most thorough view yet of this important artist's career. Heavy volume, additional shipping fee may apply.ISBN: 1881337421 9781881337423.

Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: New. Photography by Lee Friedlander (illustratore). First Edition, First Printing. No Flaws or Blemishes but the book plate of art collector Robert Allen Lewis. Throughout his life he was an active collector of art focused on contemporary and outsider works. Still Gift Quality. 200 pages; 192 duotones. Lee Friedlander is the first photographer to make the car an actual "form" for making photographs. Driving across most of the country's 50 states in an ordinary rental car, Friedlander applied the brilliantly simple conceit of deploying the sideview mirror, rearview mirror, the windshield and the side windows as a picture frame within which to record the country's eccentricities and obsessions at the turn of the century. Aggiungi al carrello0. ROBERT ADAMS - Turning Back. Katalog. München/New York 2005/06. Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln. Text von Robert Adams. 24 x 29 cm. 232 S. 164 ganzseit. s/w-Abb., Ln. SU. - Zustand sehr gut. ***** This artist book starts with views of the Pacific beach at the estuary of the Columbia River. Moving to the Great Northwest, Robert Adams documents the effects of the logging industry which left its traces in the landscape.
