März 1838 geboren, wurde auf der Berliner Universität als Zögling des Friedrich-Wilhelms-Instituts rnedicinisch ausgebildet, war wesentlich Schü…ler von Traube und dessen Assistent von 1867-1869. Promovirt am 15. März 1860, fungirte Fraentzel vom Jahre 1861-1865 als Militärarzt am Rhein, an der russisch-polnischen Grenze und im Feldzuge gegen Dänemark 1864. Seit 1865 war er in Berlin als Stabsarzt und praktischer Arzt thätig. Von 1869-1873 war er dirigirender Arzt am Augusta-Hospital; von 1870 dirigirender Arzt einer inneren Abtheilung an der Charite. Seit 1870 Privatdocent, wurde er 1875 ausserordentlicher Professor (für Auscultation, Percussion etc., Laryngoskopie, Lungenkrankheiten). Gleichzeitig war er Ober-Stabsarzt und Regimentsarzt. Von ihm erschienen: "Die Krankheiten der Pleura" (in zwei Auflagen) --"Structur der spinalen und sympathischen Ganglienzellen" (Entdeckung der die Ganglien umkleidenden Endothelien). Verschiedene Aufsätze über idiopathische Herzvergrösserungen. In der letzten Zeit umfangreiche klinische Feststellungen über das Vorkommen der Tuberkelbacillen im Auswurf und ihre diagnostische Bedeutung (1883). Verstorben um 19. September 1894." W. - Hirsch-H.
