In 2017, he was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). "The Ballad of the Sad Young Men and other Verse" by Fran Landesman is a vintage poetry book that is a limited signed first edition, which is also inscribed and signed on the title page as shown in photos. The inscription is dedicated to the NEA award-winning jazz writer (and lyricist) Ira Gitler. This book was published by Polytantric Press in the United Kingdom in 1975. Fran Landesman (1927-2011) was an American lyricist and poet, known for her witty and insightful observations on life, love, and the human condition.
