Paper Wrappers. Condizione: Fine. Parry, John (illustratore). Parry, John. Paper Wrappers. Francis Brabazon (1907-1984) was born in London, but his family moved to Australia when he was young. According to the biographical sketch introducing this publication, he became disillusioned with the Anglican religion and came under the influence of Baron von Frankenburg, a Sufi teacher in Australia. The Baron introduced him to the spiritual writings of Meher Baba, who believed himself to be the avatar of God. Brabazon met Baba in 1952 and subsequently traveled with him to India. Brabazon also became the head of the Sufi Movement in Australia upon von Frankenburg's death in 1950. Stay With God was written with the encouragement of Meher Baba. The first edition was published in 1959. The introductory biosketch states that it "is a lucid exposition of the Advent on earth in our time, of the God-Man and of this living embodiment of Godhood as the Salvation of Mankind from its permanent anxiety and threatened annihilation." In addition to his mystical religious pursuit, Brabazon was a poet, but his poetry was ignored by the various literary movements of Australia because of its mysticism. This 1990 edition is the 3rd edition, but the first illustrated edition. Illustrations are by John Parry. 8vo. Yellow paper wrappers with black title to spine. Pristine, tight interior with many illustrations. 166 pages. REL/032706.
