This edition of "Poesias Profanas" by Father Manuel Navarrete was published in 1939 by Ediciones de la Universidad Nacional Autonoma in their series, "Biblioteca del Estudiante Universatario" (No. 7). Fr. Navarrete (1768 - 1809) was a Franciscan priest who served in the state of Ta…maulipas; he was also the guardian of the Convent of Tlalpujahua. In 1805 he founded a newspaper, "Journal of Mexico", in which his poetry was published. As one can see, the paper in this copy is considerably toned. The text is entirely in Spanish. PHYSICAL DETAILS : Monographic Series Publication, paperback format; Contains an Introduction, 194 pages; 6" x 8"; pictorial wraps, glued. Printed black and red on buff - the front cover has a line vignette drawing of Fr. Navarrete. Cover edges are overlapping. CONDITION -- GOOD PLUS -- A previously owned book which remains clean, attractive and serviceable, the following noted: EXTERIOR : Moderate weathering . Spine is darkened and displays chipping, small splitting and rub. covers display offset toning, there is scattered small spotting of but small effect; overlapping edges are slightly rough. BINDING : Solid . no leaves are detached or loose. There is evidence of minor mending to the spine. INTERIOR : Toned paper throughout. Clean and unmarked with no writing or marginalia through the text. Previous owner's inked signature on the first page (Arthur Knodel).
