New York: Carl Fischer, Inc., Cooper Square, c.1941. 'Superior Edition' No. 802. Quarto (9 × 12 in.), stapled in blue art-deco pictorial wraps featuring stylized romantic illustration…. Copyright © 1941 Carl Fischer, Inc.; advertisement leaf at rear lists contemporary Morton Gould piano publications (priced 25-60¢), confirming early-1940s issue. Lithographed in U.S.A. 7 pp. piano solo score, edited with phrasing and fingerings. Moderate toning, small edge tears, dampstaining along upper margin and spine wear, else complete and legible. An evocative, frameable early Fischer printing of Liszt's most beloved nocturne, Liebestraum No. 3, here adapted for intermediate study by noted pedagogue Maxwell Eckstein. Representative of the publisher's elegant prewar 'Superior Edition' series. Franz Liszt (1811-1886) was a Hungarian composer, pianist, and conductor who revolutionized 19th-century music with his virtuosic piano works and symphonic innovations. A towering Romantic figure, he pioneered the tone poem and transformed piano technique through dazzling transcriptions and poetic miniatures. His Liebestraum No. 3, or Dream of Love, remains one of the most celebrated expressions of lyrical Romanticism - melding tender melody with transcendent pianistic brilliance.
