Slight rust to staples but binding remains firm. Comprised of four Millett essays regarding plays, playwrights, stage performances, and actress Ellen Terry. English professor Fred Millett earned a bachelors degree from Amherst with his graduate studies at the University of Chicago. Millett taught at Queen's College in Ontario, Canada; at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1919-1927); at The University of Chicago (1927-1937); and at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut (1937-1958). OCLC locates copies of BUT SHADOWS. at only six member institutions although Wesleyan University owns a non-OCLC listed copy too. Wesleyan also possesses Millett's papers and cites BUT SHADOWS as the fourth of the professor's extensive pamphleteering oeuvre - some 51 titles total issued between 1929 and 1973.
