Design, composition and presswork were done by Jim Rimmer of Pie Tree Press, who also did the pencil illustrations. Rimmer has signed the pasted in colour Kingfi…sher found on the title page. The book has also been signed by Valerie Haig-Brown, the author's daughter, who arranged to have this book created. Her father wrote the book circa 1939. This is copy #414 of 500. Paper used is Gutenberg Laid, and bindings are the work of Courtland Benson of Twin Doves Bindery. From the Preface - A couple of years ago I began the job of editing my father's papers. I found "Alison's Fishing Birds" and I could not help being thoroughly charmed, both as an editor and a daughter. From the author's opening paragraph - It is rather well worth writing about all Alison's birds, for at least two reasons. First, because Alison's house beside the river, the brown house with the pale blue trim on the windows, is in just the right place for Alison to see a lot of birds. And secondly because Alison is a quick little girl who likes to watch birds as well as almost anything, so that she generally sees what the birds are really like and what they really do. The author also wrote and published, before he wrote this story, the fly-fishing books "The Western Angler" and "A River Never Sleeps", as well as "Return to the River" This book, 35 pages, is in fine condition. A beautiful little Canadian private press book. Jim Rimmer (illustratore). Signed by Illustrator(s).
