Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. There is a wonderful frontispiece, is titled, "The guardian of the Sphinx" The cover and spine are in light brown and the cover has a band of static Egyptian figures then a row of hieroglyph fish and the other people below that all in browns and off white. The title is in light tan on front cover and spine. There is what appears to be an ink stain across cover, but it does not impact the pictures. Slight bends to corner, not bumped, the second page were glued together at the binding and has pulled apart, but is holding to the cloth. The interior is clean which makes this an overall, nice copy. Margaret Freeman (illustratore).

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Rare. Dark brown cloth covered boards with lettering and handsome color Egyptian inspired decoration on the cover and spine. This book is 267 pages in length, with a color Frontispiece, and 20 black-and-white text illustrations. Our copy of this novel is clean and in near fine condition. Not an old library book. Photographs available. "Children of Ancient Egypt" provides an evocative and educational look at life in the land of the Pharaohs through the eyes of its youngest inhabitants. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Nile, this narrative historical work transports readers to a world of pyramids, temples, and bustling marketplaces. The book explores the daily routines, traditions, and social structures of ancient Egyptian society, from the children of craftsmen to those of noble birth. Through engaging storytelling, Louise Lamprey illustrates the importance of the river's cycles, the intricacies of early writing and education, and the enduring myths that shaped the lives of this ancient civilization. Rich in historical detail and atmosphere, "Children of Ancient Egypt" serves as both a captivating story and an informative guide for readers interested in archaeology and world history. It highlights the universal aspects of childhood while celebrating the unique cultural heritage of one of humanity's most fascinating early civilizations. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
