Neben eindrücklichen Schilderungen der Natur und Landschaft faszinieren den Autor die alten Städte der dalmatinischen Küste mit ihren prachtvollen Bauten und ihrer wechselvollen Geschichte. Über Zara der alten Hauptstadt Dalmatiens gelangt er mit den Schiff nach Spalato dem heutigen Split bevor er auf die Insel Trau mit der gleichnamigen Stadt dem heutigen Trogir gelangt einem alten Militärstützpunkt der K.und K. Monarchie bevor er über Lessina und Curzula nach Ragusa der Königin des Süden und einst stolze Stadtrepublik gelangt. Von Reichtum und dem Glanz vergangenger Tage künden nur steinalte Paläste Mauern und Türme. Dann noch eine Reise mit Eisenbahn nach Knin hoch über der Stadt liegt die alte Hofburg der kroatischen Könige nach Ragusa zurück und in die montenegrinischen Berge in die südlichste Stadt des alten Dalmatien die Marinebasis Cattaro. Die Herzegowina ist für den Autor das Ende Europas jedenfalls geographisch ein unendliches Religons und Völkergemisch Minarette Moscheen neben Kirchen katholisch und orthodox dazu Kroaten Serben Romanen Germanen Türken und Nachfahren der mongolischen Hunnen dazu noch ein Loblied auf das alte Habsburger Kaiserhaus was diese Ländstriche und Völkerschaften irgendwie zusammenhält. 16 Deutsch 600g.
