This book begins at the end of WWI with an American soldier (Sydney) waiting to be discharged from the Army and gets an apartment in Paris while he waits. He becomes enamored with the life and marries a French girl. Home matters catch up with him and he appointed to care for the John Adams museum. His life goes on as does the life in Paris and the years pass by as he fails to write in his diary. A son is born and Sydney enjoys his son, and his wife Monique until the Germans arrive in 1936 and his life changes again as the family scatters, he returns to America and then joins the Algerian Army up to July 1944 and can now head to Paris and the life style he enjoyed with family and friends. A clean very presentable copy.
