Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book of accounts, from 1557-1564, is a record of the financial transactions of two prominent Basel printers: Hieronymus and his sons Ambrosius and Aurelius Froben, and Nicolaus Episcopius and his sons, Nicolaus and Eusebius. The Froben and Episcopius families collaborated for decades on some of the most significant printing projects of the period, including important works by Erasmus and others. Their commitment to scholarship and their extensive commercial networks made them a cornerstone of the European book trade and pillars of the Reformation. The book sheds light on the financial details of their partnership and the inner workings of one of the leading book-making enterprises of the sixteenth century. The accounts are themselves an important historical source, and they provide valuable insights into the complex web of relationships among printers, publishers, and booksellers during a period of great intellectual and social change. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
