Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout. Cracking to gutters of a few pages with exposed binding. Minor pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Cracking to hinges with exposed binding, causing boards to be loose. Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Water staining and dark rubbed marking overall. Mild tanning to spine and edges. White stained marks to spine.

No Additional Printings. 397 pages; index; 64 illustrations from photos & artwork; A leading theatrical producer (manager) c.1870-1930, Frohman managed or knew all the leading lights of the period, and tells revealing anecdotes about them and himself. Book condition: Spine cover has a little fade. Cover has a pale damp stain affecting c. 1/3 of the front cover and along the back cover open end c.1.0 inch wide. Dampness is visible on a majority of pages on the bottom (partial coverage) to c. 0.25 inch depth, and in the rear, in the index for a similar depth on the open edge. Bottom edge has been dyed blue, about 1/3 rd of bottom area show some light stains.

The byline of the news article is that of W. C. Lomax, "Special Correspondent of "The Quill"". W.C. Lomax has crossed out his name on the book's title page and elsewhere in the book. A poem "The Old Academy of Music" is pasted onto the page preceding Daniel Frohman's Album of theater star photos. There in no front free end paper, perhaps removed by Lomax. The last 77 pages are actor/actress photos & an extensive index.
