Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Very Good. Fatalities and injuries on the job still occur at unacceptably high rates in both industrial and developing countries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there were 4.9 million reported workplace injuries in the US in 2001. This work analyzes both the behaviours that lead to accidental injuries in the workplace and the behaviours that can prevent and manage them. In the process, the contributors summarize what is known about the subject, and raise questions for researchers to answer in the future. It is clear that job related injuries are related to poor worker-employer collaboration, lack of safety management systems, poor safety culture, deficient knowledge and training, and lack of incentive-based compensation systems. This work points out the ways in which I/O psychologists can help reduce unintentional workplace injuries. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. In this authoritative book, Michael R. Frone takes a close, hard look at what we know and don't know about workforce and workplace substance involvement. In doing so, he exposes the lack of evidence behind many popular myths that have persisted since the 98 s "war on drugs." Frone's comprehensive review covers nearly all of the related research conducted over the past 2 -3 years, including several national studies and government reports as well as the broader research literature. In particular, Frone analyzes methodological limitations and the tendency of many science reporters to "go beyond the data" when interpreting results. Given the need for evidence-based management and policy, this book will be a comprehensive resource for researchers and practitioners in management, occupational health, and addiction treatment/prevention. Analyzing workplace substance involvement, this work debunks persistent myths from the war on drugs era by critically reviewing national studies and government reports. It exposes methodological shortcomings and sensational reporting, underscoring the need for solid evidence in policy and management. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
