A queste ultime Fulgenzio, che all'epoca di Trasamundo era «l'Sme de la résistance catholique» (Lambot), contrappone sistematicamente con abilità e fermezza le corrispondenti interpretazioni cattoliche, avvalendosi di speculazioni teologiche affermate nella tradizione patristica, particolarmente in Agostino, del quale egli ha costantemente seguito l'insegnamento.
