Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. This open access book studies disability inclusion in humanitarian crises. It addresses the challenges of recognizing and including persons with disabilities and indicates the degree to which disability is being mainstreamed in international law and humanitarian action. Further, it explores how international organizations have promoted a rights-based understanding of disability in international law, and to what extent this understanding has gained acceptance in humanitarian policy and practice. Theoretically, Funke and Dijkzeul explore the robustness of the disability inclusion norm cluster during processes of institutionalization, translation, and implementation. The book examines these processes from a multi-level perspective, which involves a variety of actors beyond states, including organizations of persons with disabilities. Situating their analysis within the literature on humanitarian action and development, the authors argue for an increased focus on processes below the international level in international relations and international law scholarship to better understand disability inclusion. Carolin Funke is an expert in disability inclusion and internal displacement. She currently works at TU Dortmund University and is research affiliate at the Refugee Law Initiative, University of London. Before, she was postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict at Ruhr University Bochum and research fellow at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs, Leiden University. She has conducted extensive field research in Georgia and Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Her latest book "Durable Solutions: Challenges with Implementing Global Norms for Internally Displaced Persons in Georgia" was published in 2022. Dennis Dijkzeul is Professor of conflict and organization research at Ruhr University Bochum. He was the founding director of the Humanitarian Affairs Program at Columbia University in New York. He has conducted research on international and local organizations in the United States, Europe, DR Congo, Uganda, South Sudan, and Afghanistan. His latest books are "Diaspora Organizations in International Affairs" (2020, with Margit Fauser), and "International Organizations Revisited: Agency and Pathology in a Multipolar World" (2021, with Dirk Salomons).

Neuware - Due to their pronounced intraspecific variability and to difficulties in defining their evolutionary trends in mammalian phylogenies, peripheral blood vessels have been neglected in comparative studies. Supported by the Sonderforschungsbereich 89 (Car diology) of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, we have reconstructed the ontoge of the blood vessels of the tree shrew, Tupaia belangeri, on the netic morphogenesis basis of a series of developmental stages. The arteries of the lower extremity are described and discussed here. Besides describing the morphogenesis of the arteries in Tupaia, it is the aim of this study to explain the variability of the arteries of the pelvic extremity among mammals, and especially among primates including man, on the basis of a common developmen tal pattern. This can be shown in the following example. In the popliteal region of most adult mammals the arteria poplitea profunda is situated under the musculus popliteus. In the adult Tupaia, as well as in primates, this artery is missing but, superficial to the musculus popliteus, an arteria poplitea super ficialis exists. It seems difficult to explain such a case of 'discontinuous evolution,' because it is hard to imagine the position of the artery should have shifted through the muscle. The present investigation and the literature show that early in the embryonic development of a primate, man, and of Tupaia, both the arteria poplitea profunda and the arteria poplitea superficialis are present.

Building on extensive field research, it describes and explains the considerable problems which Georgia faces in establishing global norms, as well as the ongoing hardship that IDPs experience. Importantly, the book reveals the simultaneous progress and setbacks in implementing durable solutions. Successfully combining approaches from humanistic studies, international relations, and organizational sociology, this book explains the interaction of norms and actors at and among three societal levels: the international, national, and local.
