Georg Funke (1808-1862) wehrt sich gegen die "unbeschränkte Teilbarkeit" des Grundeigentums, die zur Proletarisierung der Landbevölkerung führen müsse. Funke war Pastor in Menslage im Osnabrücker Land. Seine Gemeinde bestand zu einem Großteil aus "Heuerlingsfamilien", landlosen Landarbeitern, die am Rande des Existenzminimums lebten. Deren Situation hatte er schon in einer früheren Schrift geschildert. In der vorliegenden wendet er sich gegen das Vordringen "welscher", gegen das "germanische" Herkommen gerichteter Ideen, die zur Auflösung angestammten Grund- und Bodenbesitzes führen würden. Im Grunde ist seine Schrift eine Kritik am fortschreitenden Kapitalismus, der das Althergebrachte in Stadt und Land gleichermaßen hinwegfegt. Er will die sozialen Probleme durch eine Rückkehr zu den alten Traditionen lösen.
