Dark leather boards are normally scuffed at edges and worn/bumped at corners. Head and tail of spine rubbed. Gilt lettering and bordering overall bright and clean. Top and fore-edges gilt; normally dulled. Toning/off-setting to paste-downs and end-pages. Gift inscription found, in ink, on front end-page: "Will Mary please accept this book in remembrance of her beloved father who died April 2d 1858 - From your affectionate Mother, F. C. Clark, Dec. 25., 1858." Front gutter split at front fly-leaf; bottom piece of cording at tail split. Normal toning throughout text-bock; foxing around plates.
