Both ancient and modern societies have revered such individuals due to their ability to promote development and see to the emergence of products that satisfy needs and wants. This paper seeks to revisit this concept by exploring the concept of the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial process. Rather than explicating theory all through, this essay uses the theory of the entrepreneurial process to demonstrate the process a famous entrepreneur - Henry Ford - undertook on his quest to develop and establish a new market that shaped the 20th and continues to impact the 21st century. The essay begins by providing the theoretical framework for entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial process, as well as its components. To rigidify theory, the case of Henry Ford is presented and examined to observe how a historical entrepreneur went through the entrepreneurial process and what components were relevant to him. Most of the story on Story Ford is derived from John and Dodge (2010). …

Neuware - Essay from the year 2019 in the subject Business economics - Economic Policy, grade: 63, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, course: Institutions and Governance, language: English, abstract: This essay emphasizes Khan's (2010) political settlements approach as a key explanatory paradigm for the variation in industrial policy results. The political settlements approach is applied to analyze industrial policy in the Nigerian oil refining sector. The multiplicity of horizontal elite and vertical redistributive interests has prevented the effective operation and revamp of the state-owned enterprises. It is until Dangote Industries Limited, backed by Africa's wealthiest man, has made substantial investments to build a 650,000 barell per day refinery that prospects have brightened. The construction seeks to bypass the fraught political settlement of the industry by building its own infrastructure and doing so in a way that circumvents the supply chain bottlenecks. …

Thus, it is characterized as a probable drawback to the organization's persistence. Consequently, planned change is required to smoothen the process of change and thus, multiple theories and models of planned change have emerged to tackle the issue. Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2016 in the subject Economics - Industrial Economics, grade: 90%, Rhodes University, course: Trade and Industrial Policy, language: English, abstract: The aim of this essay is to examine whether the NDP's vision for economy and employment can match the SDG (number eight) of economic growth (specifically, promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all). Furthermore, an analysis is made of the contribution that trade and industrialization can make towards the realization of this vision. In particular, what is examined is the power of the 'synthetic triad' of the NDP, the country's trade policy and its industrial policy as formulated by the Department of Trade and Industry in realizing the vision of economic and employment growth in South Africa. The paper begins with a description of the visions and their explicit targets, as well as the current empirical reality in South Africa and within the global North. Following this, an examination of the literature on inclusive and labour-absorbing economic growth for developing countries is conducted to provide a conceptual framework - with a focus on the roles of trade and industrialization. Thereafter, the revealed conceptual framework is applied to the case of South Africa, while giving a little attention to the broader case of developing countries apropos the SDG. The conclusion then provides a summarized consolidation of the argument. The UN SDG number eight (decent work and economic growth) is matched with the NDP vision of employment and economic growth. Particularly, the role of trade and industrialization are assessed in enabling the realization of the goals in South Africa. It is shown that trade and industrialization form the basis for accelerated labour-absorbing economic growth characterized by high productivity and higher incomes. Underpinned by this, a 'synthetic triad' of South Africa's TPSF, NIPF/IPAP, and NDP is key to achieve the NDP goal. 'Synthetic' because there is a synthesis between trade policy, industrial policy, and the broader development policy that reflects in the synthesis between the three policy frameworks aforementioned.…
