A comprehensive monograph that serves as an introduction to the artistic legacy of the Russian painter Jacob Dorofeyevich Romas, also known as Yakov Dorofeevich Romas (1902-1969). Yakov Dorofeevich Romas was a prominent Soviet artist and a pioneering figure in Soviet design. He achieved the esteemed status of a member of the Academy of Fine Arts of the USSR in 1958. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the world of art, he was honored with the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1965. Notably, Romas held the role of chief artist for the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition from 1950 to 1954. His artistic repertoire primarily consisted of landscape compositions, frequently featuring a dominant theme of water. His works found a home in renowned institutions such as the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, alongside many other museums. Yakov Dorofeevich Romas' influence and contributions to Soviet art make him a noteworthy figure in the annals of artistic history, and this monograph provides valuable insights into his life and artistic journey.
