Book # 6 of the adventures of Maxie for young girls, written by Elsie Bell Gardner, 1895-1994, a (possibly) Canadian writer. There were 7 books in the 1932-1939 series, of which this is the 6th. This is likely the First Edition, as the list of books in the series on the copyright page stops at this book. The frontispiece is present, there are no other illustrations. The book, in blue illustrated pictorial cloth with black lettering and design to the front boards and spine, is a solid, square good-VG copy. The spine is lightly sunned, there is wear to spine extremities and corners, there is some brown staining here and there throughout, the former owner has written her name (Angela Moore from Toronto) in the place provided on the front endpaper, a slight separation of the text block from the boards is starting.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Near-fine with "This is my Book" on flyleaf neatly filled out, otherwise clean and bright. In a very good plus dust jacket with light edgewear and a few small closed tears. Cupples & Leon used no first printing designation, so other titles from the series listed in the book or on the jacket flaps are the only clues to the printing history. This has three titles--Maxie An Adorable Girl, Maxie In Venezuela and Maxie Searching for Her Parents listed on the front flap and the copyright page, followed by the statement "other volumes in preparation." Since all three books were published in 1932, I believe this is an indicator of a first printing (anyone with additional information, please let me know). In any event, finding the first volume of this series in such an attractive dust jacket is definitely uncommon.
