Notes that publication of The Letters was sponsored by an "International Committee" whose members included Benedetto Croce, Maxim Gorki, Sinclair Lewis, H.G. Wells, and others. The Letters were edited by Marion Denman Frankfurter (wife of Supreme Court Justic Felix Frankfurter) and Gardner Jackson; both were prominent members of the Sacco-Vanzetti Defense Committee.
