A very nice copy of the no-holds barred autobiography by the controversial Los Angeles Police Department Chief from 1978 to 1992; and the man credited with co-creating SWAT (special weapons and tactics) & D.A.R.E. (an education program aimed at preventing drug usage, membership in gangs, and violent behavior.) After the 1992 LA riots, in response to the acquittal of the LAPD officers involved in the Rodney King beating, Gates retired from the LAPD and soon became the scapegoat of LAPD's dysfunction. Even five years later, after Gates' retirement, LAPD dysfunction would once again rear its head with the assassination of Notorious BIG; and how the investigation was, and is, investigated. Laid-in is a two page letter signed by Gates in which he reflects on the Kennedy assassinations, Oliver Stone, and the current state of politicians, and how not always the best, most qualified politicians are elected; and we the people deserve these unqualified politicians so long as we don't take voting more seriously.
