Soft cover. Condizione: Good. Original publisher's brown wrapper backed with black cloth. Red and blue decorative stripes on front cover. Bound by the Angwin Book Bindery. 6 5/8" x 9 5/8." Pages 79-112, complete. Illustrations/reprinted photographs (sixteen of which are in color), complete. Pages and covers are very clean and intact overall. There is tape repair on the first eight of the color plates. Plates IX and X (also in color) have a large vertical tear that extends from the bottom edge almost to the top and is located about 2" from the spine. A few pages have markings in blue pen and scratch marks. In the upper-left corner of the front cover are numbers handwritten in pen. Green stamp is on the front cover and faintly on the first page that says, "John F. Kennedy Senior High School Library, Sacramento City Unified School District, Sacramento, California." Most of the pages are clean and undamaged. The covers are completely clean and intact. Binding is tight. A Good copy. The author gives a tour of Hispaniola and talks about the Republic of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as his own impressions of the island. The histories, cultures, and geography of both countries are briefly discussed from an American perspective. There is also mention of Spanish explorers such Christopher Columbus and Hernan Cortes. Page 79 talks about the Pampas in South America and is the last page of the preceding National Geographic issue.
