Chapters give an overview of the state of forest and rangeland soils research in the Nation, including multi-decadal programs (chapter 1), then summarizes various human-caused and natural impacts and their effects on soil carbon, hydrology, biogeochemistry, and biological diversity (chapters 25). Other chapters look at the effects of changing conditions on forest soils in wetland and urban settings (chapters 67). Impacts include: climate change, severe wildfires, invasive species, pests and diseases, pollution, and land use change. Chapter 8considers approaches to maintaining or regaining forest and rangeland soil health in the face of these varied impacts. Mapping, monitoring, and data sharing are discussed in chapter 9 as ways to leverage scientific and human resources to address soil health at scales from the landscape to the individual parcel (monitoring networks, data sharing Web sites, and educational soils-centered programs are tabulated in appendix B). Chapter 10 highlights opportunities for deepening our understanding of soils and for sustaining long-term ecosystem health and appendix C summarizes research needs. Nine regional summaries (appendix A) offer a more detailed look at forest and rangeland soils in the United States and its Affiliates. Chapters give an overview of the state of forest and rangeland soils research in the Nation, including multi-decadal programs (chapter 1), then summarizes various human-caused and natural impacts and their effects on soil carbon, hydrology, biogeochemistry, and biological diversity (chapters 25). Sie ist dem Fernsehpublikum vor allem durch ihre Rolle der Johanna Blanc in der Schweizer TV-Serie Lü…thi und Blanc sowie als Mutter der Kummerbuben in der gleichnamigen Serie bekannt. Leben Im Alter von 15 Jahren wurde ihr schauspielerisches Talent entdeckt, woraufhin sie später eine Ausbildung an der Schauspielschule des Konservatoriums für Musik in Bern absolvierte. Ihre Lehrerinnen waren sowohl Margarethe Schell von Noë und Uta Hagen. Bei Herbert Berghof nahm sie später noch Schauspielunterricht in englischer Sprache. Von 1961 bis 2024 lebte Linda Geiser in New York und gründete dort ihr eigenes Off-Off-Broadway Theater namens Counterpoint. Linda Geiser spielte ebenfalls in zahlreichen Theaterstücken mit und konnte auch in den USA in Filmen mitwirken, zum Beispiel in ?Der Pfandleiher? von Sidney Lumet. Regelmässig kehrte Linda Geiser in die Schweiz zurück, um auch hier weiterhin als Schauspielerin zu arbeiten. In New York bot sie zudem Kunst- und Stadtführungen für Schweizer Frauen an. Im Dezember 2024 verkaufte Linda Geiser nach über 60 Jahren ihr Haus in New York und kehrte vollständig in ihre Heimat Bern zurück. Sie wohnt seither in einem Altersheim.[1] Künstlerisches Engagement Linda Geiser ist über ihre schauspielerische Tätigkeit hinaus auch als bildende Künstlerin bekannt. Seit 1978 veranstaltete sie eigene Ausstellungen, auf denen Schmuck, Kunsthandwerk und Malerei gezeigt wurden. In ihrem New Yorker «Red House» (317 East 5th Street, East Village) beherbergte sie über Jahrzehnte Zimmer und Ateliers, die sie jungen Schweizer Kunstschaffenden im Rahmen des Stipendienprogramms von Stadt und Kanton Bern zur Verfügung stellte.
