I am going out of town early tomorrow morning, but I shall be back in a few days, or if you prefer to send the drawing to me in the country , my address will be [.]". C. (28 Sept.1877) "[.] I have not yet seen Cassell's Mag[azine] for Oct[ober] but I do not think it is at all likely I shall like the engraving better than those you have done. I shall be sending a drawing to them on the 9th. and I will send them a line with it suggesting that you have the block." D. (17 Oct. 1877) "I return proof. I have very little touching to suggest. I like the engraving very much.".

TWO: 23 December [1883]. 4pp., 12mo. He begins by offering to aid Grant's researchehs by search the parish registers. He states that he is 'very fond of birds & natural history generally', and was interested in the 'account of your dear father & the moor hen'. He describes the birds he sees when he looks out of the window, and that when he is gardening 'they follow me about like little dogs - & all very pleased to be spoken to'.

Lehmann was born in Hamburg and moved to London in 1866. He wrote two books.
