Introduction by Milciades A Lachaga. First edition limited to 330 copies. All 45 games from the tournament with annotation in German by A. Becker. Ten participants competed in Teplitz-Schönau, Czechoslovakia in 1937. Karl Gilg captured first with no losses (+6 =3 -0) a full point ahead of Karel Opocensky. Karel Treybal was a close third only a half point behind. Albert Becker was two point behind the leader in fourth. Sole fifth was Pal V Rethy with a score of 5. Sixth and seventh was shared with Franz Herzog and Fritz Sammisch. Finish off the field was Max Walter in eight, Rudolf Bauer in ninth and Heinrich Eberl in last. Condition: Extremities sunned else a very good to fine copy.

Mar del Plata has a rich history of chess tournaments, including their international chess tournament and open tournament. The international tournament started off in 1928, but only in the period from 1941 to 1970 was it a truly international tournament with considerable reputation. The third edition was played in 1936. Isaias Pleci captured first place with 11.5 points followed closely by Aaron Schwartzman half point behind. Third and fourth was shared by Juan Vinuesa and Virgilio Fenoglio two points behind the leader. Sole fifth was Carlos Enrique Guimard followed by Juan Traian Iliesco in sixth. Seventh and eighth was shared by Jacobo Bolbochan and Rodrigo Flores Alvarez. Again sharing Mariano Castillo Larenas and Luis Roberto Piazzini finished tied for ninth and tenth. Carlos Hounie Fleurquin and Rene Letelier Martner tied for eleventh and twelfth with a score of 6.5. Thirteen and fourteenth placed Benito H Villegas and Raul Charlier a full point behind. Julio Cesar Balparda finished fifteenth followed by A. Pons. Condition: Age toning to spine and light edge wear else a very good copy.

Max Blümich, Rudolf_Pitschak and Emil Zinner were tied for fourth through sixth with six point each. The author, Albert Becker, Denes Boros and Erich Eliskases were tied for seventh through ninth with 5 1/2 each. Clear tenth was Herzon with 4 1/2 points. Lothar Maximilian Lorenz Schmid (10 May 1928 ¿ 18 May 2013) was a German chess grandmaster. He was born in Radebeul near Dresden into a family who were the co-owners of the Karl May Press, which published the German Karl May adventure novels. He was best known as the chief arbiter at several World Chess Championship matches, in particular the 1972 encounter between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky at Reykjavic. He was also an avid collector of chess books and paraphernalia. It was reputed that he owned the largest known private chess library in the world, as well as a renowned collection of chess art, chess boards and chess pieces from around the globe.
