Additional stamp of a different owner on half…title: J.B. G. Top edge dyed blue. Georg Hecht (1885-1915) Born 12.01.1885 in Schwersenz near Poznan, died on 14.05.1915 near Saint-Mihiel in France. Physician and literary historian, critic, essayist, translator, lived in Munich, studied medicine in Munich, Wroclaw and Leipzig. 1908 med., practiced until 1911 and was then exclusively literary. Turned to Zionism and stood up for the Yiddish culture. He was killed on 14.05.1915 during the so-called "Osterschlacht an der Mosel". Hecht wrote reviews for the magazines "Xenien" and "Der Bücherwurm", later also polemics and essays for "the action". (Information from Deutsches Literaturlexikon by Lutz Hagestedt.).
