Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a historical novel that explores the themes of friendship, ambition, and revenge in Renaissance-era Italy. The story centers on Gaspardo, a fisherman who becomes embroiled in a dangerous struggle for power when he is hired as a gondolier for the Duke of Milan. As Gaspardo navigates the treacherous political landscape, he finds himself torn between his loyalty to his friends and his desire for justice. The author delves deeply into the complexities of human nature, exploring the ways in which ambition can corrupt even the most noble of souls. Through Gaspardo's journey, the book offers a timeless meditation on the consequences of betrayal and the enduring power of friendship. Softcover. Condizione: Very good-. 44 pp script in original printed wrappers. Undated, but ca. 1878-1887 based on publisher's address. Some loss of paper at lower spine, very mild vertical grease, otherwise very good. This adaptation was first performed in the fall of 1838, before the full text ofDickens' original novel, published serially, had been released in Bentley's Miscellany. (The last installment appeared in April, 1839). Philip Cox reports in Reading Adaptations (Manchester University Press, 2000) that Dickens attended a performance and was so horrified that "in the middle of the first scene he laid himself down upon the floor in the corner of the box and never rose from it until the drop scene fell.".
