Unbacked folding map in fine condition. Stiff buff wrappers, "Cyclist's Road Map of Connecticut Issued by the Southern New England Telephone Co." printed on the front. At the lower right corner of the map is the Bell Telephone logo with the words "Local and Long Distance Telephone. Look for the Sign of the Blue Bell". Outline color by town, with elevations shown in color as well. The inside front cover and back cover contain a list of roughly 100 public places which have telephones. The header here is "Telephones will be found at the following places of 'entertainment for man and beast.' " This list demonstrates the novel nature of telephones around the turn of the 20th century.…

Folding map with stiff back wrapper, lacking front board. Map is excellent, with short repairs or splits along three fold lines. Parks and other public areas are tinted green, surface and subway rail lines in red and green. The United Staes Hotel, which used this map as a promotional device, is also shown in red. The map shows all of Central, East and South Boston, most of Charlestown, and the eastern tip of Cambridge. unbound. Map. Color lithograph. Sheets measure 36 x 25.5 inches, with publishers green cloth case, title in gold. This scarce Walker map of Boston and surroundings dates to 1894. Covers from Acton to Marblehead and Salem, and from Wilmington south as far as Norwood, depicting the region during the late nineteenth century. Issued during a time when the city had grown dramatically and residents began to move out to surroundings regions, this map was intended to be used by those traveling in and around Boston. Beautifully detailed with roads, railways, towns, islands, ferry and steamer lines, ports, and harbors labeled throughout. Concentric circles illustrating mile increments emanate from the State House in Boston. This map, copyrighted by George Walker and Co. in 1892 was published at the Boston Map Store by Damrell and Upham. The map is in good condition with some wear and toning. Minor tears along some original fold intersections. Folds into original binder. George H. Walker & Company was a publishing firm in Boston in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. George H. Specifically designed for the automobile traveler, it identifies state roads, good automobile routes, electric railways and other routes. Covers from Bridge Water to Nantucket Island. Beautifully detailed, it also notes several towns, cities, bays, islands, ferry routes, lighthouses, shoals, banks, and several other topographical features. The map is in good condition with minor foxing. The map is dissected into 21 panels and backed with linen. Cover includes manuscript text. A list of other maps by Geo. H.
