Prima edizione
Presumed first printing thus. Contains an Introduction, as well as information on the Immune System, Hematopoietic System: Animal Models for the Bone Marrow; Gastrointestinal Tract; Lung; Kidney; Other Factors Affecting Experimental Outcome; Conclusions; Acknowledgments, and References. Since their inception, the eight centers for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation (CMCRs), under the purview of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, with National Cancer Institute involvement, has been identifying and developing mitigating agents that can be used to treat the civilian population after a radiological event. Given the necessity for a consensus on appropriate animal model use across the network to allow for comparative studies, investigators from each of the Centers of Medical Countermeasures against Radiation organized and met for an Animal Models Workshop. This report provides the workshop findings. fair (some highlighting and ink underlining and notations to text). Staplebound (1 staple at top left corner of cover; that corner is bent).

Since the inception of the eight Centers for Medical Countermeasures Against Radiation, under the purview of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases with National Cancer Institute involvement. Since a focus of these Centers is to develop agents for prophylaxis, mitigation, and treatment of radiation injury, the testing of such countermeasures inevitably requires the use of animal model systems.

Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. Signed affidavit before the justice of the peace stating that Ellen Brookes (sp? Brooken, Brooker) is a free born not a slave, and that the woman in question is her. From Frederick County Maryland, and signed by George William Hauer. George William Hauer of Frederick, MD (1777-1848), was a War of 1812 veteran. He is buried in Mt. Olive Cementery in Frederick, MD. Hugh Hughes was the Frederick County, Maryland, officiant written on front of affidavit. In Maryland, the free/enslaved status of a child was determined by the status of their mother, so by proving Ellen Brookes was free, her children thereafter would be born free as well. Maryland had the largest Freeborn population in the U.S., with 49% of the Black population free, majority located in and around Baltimore. It's not specified how she was freed however, abolition groups were incredibly active in the region some masters would find religion and free their slaves, or free their descendants, mixed children born to white women were born free, as well as groups of freedmen combining funds to buy and then free people. Fearing unrest with the large population of Free persons, a lot of people were freed under the condition they went to colonize Liberia with the American Colonization Society (based in D.C. with the Maryland Branch one of the most prominent), where the majority of those immigrants died quickly.
