Nicolas Bonnet, curé de Saint-Michel de Chartres au moment de la Révolution, et élu évêque d'Eure-et-Loir le 13 février 1791, figure parmi les plus obscurs de ces obscurs, d'autant que son siège épiscopal ne fut pas relevé par les soins de l'Eglise constitutionnelle après la Terreur, que le concordat de 1802 l'unit à celui de Versailles, et qu'il faudra attendre 1821 pour que Chartres retrouve un évêque résident.
