Cette publication (pp. 71-75) est le complément du texte sur "les troubles de la marche dans l'hémiplégie organique étudiés à l'aide du cinématographe" paru dans la Semaine Médicale l'année précédente. Le but de Marinesco est de montrer les avantages que présente l'application du cinématographe à l'étude des troubles de la marche. Dans cet article, Marinesco estime que la cinématographie apporte quelque lumière à la question du mécanisme de la contracture et de ses relations avec l'exagération des réflexes. Il propose 3 classes de paraplégies : 1°). tous les muscles des membres inférieurs sont à l'état de contracture ou d'hypertonie généralisée ; l'hypertonie ne s'accompagne pas d'exagération des réflexes ; 2°). la contracture est prédominante dans une série de muscles, bien que leurs antagonistes soient également contracturés ; exagération des réflexes ; 3°). Les fléchisseurs de la jambe sont en état d'hypotonie et leurs antagonistes, les extenseurs, en hypertonie ; les réflexes sont exagérés ou même très exagérés. Georges Marinesco, also known as Gheorghe Marinescu, was a major figure in early neuroscience and neurology. His work contributed to neuron theory, neurodegeneration, neuropathology, chromatolysis, neuronophagia, retrograde degeneration, and the study of Parkinsonian pathology.
