Born in Scotland, Garden arrived in the U.S. in 1883 and subsequently became a leading operatic soprano, performing in the great opera houses of both Europe and America. Geritz emigrated to the U.S. from Hungary in 1909. He was active as a printmaker and painter, initi…ally in Chicago and from ca. 1921 in California, where he was a member of the prestigious California Society of Etchers and the California Printmakers. Exhibitions of his works were held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in the 1920s as well as at the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Smithsonian.
