Kenntnisse über die Genealogie sowie über die politischen Machtverhältnisse waren dabei unabdingbar. Das Handbuch führt in die großen und kleinen Residenzen des Reiches ein. VD 17 vermutet den aus dem lippischen Schwalenberg gebürtigen Johann Christian Lünig (1662-1740) als Verfasser; von ihm stammen u.a. die neueren europäischen und Staatshändel. Auf dem Titel des vorliegenden Exemplars hingegen wird Philipp Andreas Oldenburger (gest. 1678) genannt, eine Art Sensationsjournalist des 17. Jahrhunderts (vgl.
