Hardcover. Condizione: VG for age and genre. A new edition circa 1935 (date of P.B.M.Lake's 'A New Plan of Kent's Cavern' which replaced a 1914-dated original in 1934). Unfolding 'New Plan with text on recto (short tear to top of fold) +(18 unpag.with 7 full-page photos and numerous smaller photos in text)+unfolding 1923-dated time chart by J.B.Sparks; 2 rust marks from old staples, now replaced, to central gutter, otherwise internally clean, and unmarked, one corner creased. Illustrated card covers generally quite good with virtually no edge-wear and only very slight outer corner curling (affecting textblock), front cover has black & white engraving of cave's interior and phrase 'Wellswood Torquay' at bottom, small (7 mm.) brown spot towards top, rear cover perhaps a bit dusty. Aside from the brown spot a very acceptable copy of this thorough well-illustrated guide-book. Kent's Cavern yielded numerous stone tools, dating back to the Palaeolithic, ice age faunal bones and, in 1925, the skull of a 25 year old bronze age woman. Now under UNESCO patronage, its cucrrent web-site states 'it is by far the most important prehistoric cave dwelling in Britain' and its earliest occupants are now assumed to have been Neanderthals. This pamphlet remains of historical interest to those interested in history of British archaeology as well as local historians.…

Hardback. Condizione: New. Examining the existing legal framework for ocean carbon dioxide removal (CDR), this forward-thinking book highlights potential legal challenges and opportunities associated with using the ocean to remove and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It describes five commonly discussed ocean CDR techniques, including rock-based ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE), electrochemical OAE, ocean fertilization, artificial upwelling and downwelling, and seaweed cultivation, and explores the legal issues that different techniques could raise. This timely book explores the laws governing ocean CDR research and deployment at the international level and domestically in seven countries across Asia, Europe, and North America. The analysis highlights the complexities and uncertainties associated with applying existing international and domestic law to ocean CDR, providing lawyers and policymakers with invaluable insights into areas where legal reforms are needed to facilitate in-ocean research and deployment. This book is essential reading for lawyers, policymakers, and others interested in advancing innovative climate change solutions. It will also appeal to academic and private sector scientists who are conducting research into ocean CDR.…
