Often they cannot get another partner, who are compatible with their mindset and cannot build the mutual trust, essential for a married couple. A 2005 study at Ohio State University (OSU) found that after getting married, people saw a sharp increase in their level of wealth. After 10 years of marriage, the couples reported an average net worth of around $43,000, compared to $11,000 for people who had stayed single. However, people who had married and then divorced were worse off than any other group. After a divorce, the average man was left with $8,500 in assets, while the average divorced woman had only $3,400. From these studies, we need to find out what we need to do to reduce or even eliminate the exploitation of one member of a married couple by the other. If we provide equal facilities and opportunities to a single person and a married person, then every person will earn the living as an individual, then there would no incentive to get married to get a share of the wealth of the spouse.
