Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. THE ROMAN CAMPAGNA AND ITS TREASURES BY GILBERT BAGNANI 1930 36 PLATES/3 MAPS. Having lived for a number of years along the New Appian Way (Via Appia Nova), this book would have been a wonderful reference. On offer here: The Roman Campagna and Its Treasures by Gilbert Bagnani. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ¾ inches, 320 pages) was published by Charles Scribner s Sons of New York dated 1930 (a probable First American Edition). It is bound in dark red finely ribbed cloth boards with gilt titles on the spine. There are 36 b&w illustrations, blank on the reverse and 3 maps. In addition, the endpapers are decorated with two of those nice maps of the Roman Campagna (Northern and Southern Sections). Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust dulled and the spine is faded by the sun and has some white smears at its base. The boards are very lightly bumped. Inside there are some lightly penciled notations (bookseller prices-easily erasable) on the first blank page but those are the only marks I found in the book. The interior pages and photo plates are clean and bright without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

This book explores the complex relationship between organized Christianity and the State, tracing it from its humble beginnings to its transformative power in world history. The author traces how Christianity's universalizing message spread across the Roman Empire, and how it shifted from being a persecuted minority to a dominant force within the empire. The book examines the ways in which the church has both influenced and been influenced by political structures and how this dynamic has played out over centuries. It also delves into the tensions between dogma and politics, examining the challenges and opportunities that arise when religious and secular authorities intersect. Ultimately, this book highlights the profound impact that the relationship between Christianity and the State has had on the development of Western Civilization and provides a valuable lens through which to understand the ongoing interplay between religion and politics in the modern world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
