One of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, this one by Frank Godwin, who provided art for the front pastedown, frontispiece, & 14 internal illustrations, all of them full-page, 3 in full color (all present, with 2 showing a tiny dampstain to bottom edge)! This is the First Edition in this format (First, thus) from Winston from 1924, with an Introduction & Notes by Gilbert Sykes Blakely, in 304 pages with a Glossary in rear. With red cloth-covered boards with a colorful front paper paste-down, condition is Fair-Good: generally very clean with mild page tanning, but random spots to fore edge & on some pages, discolored areas randomly distributed to both covers & spine. Rubbing to extremities & heavily bumped corners with some fraying. Binding strong & straight, hinges intact. But the full-color frontispiece + 14 pen-&-ink illustrations throughout the book are lovely!
