Jim Ray partnered with Vital Publications, Inc. To publish his Aviation Sketchbook. He was a member of the National Aeronautics Associations, the Army Ari Force Reserve, and Who's Who. Jim Ray trained on an early Wright Brothers airplane. He was deployed in France during World War I. In 1923, he was the first pilot delivering airmail from Philadelphia to New Your City in a Pitcairn autogiro. He illustrated the Kellogg cereal boxes from 1938-1939 and worked for Phillips 66.
