Un piccolo strappetto senza perdita di carta al margine alto del piatto anteriore e basso del dorso e per il resto, esemplare in ottime condizioni di conservazione di questa prima edizione di una delle opere più importanti sulla storia del forte di Fuentes in Valtellina, scritto dallo storico Antonio Giussani (1867-1942). L'opera, assai rara a reperirsi completa della brossura originale ed in questo caso, arricchita dalla bella dedica autografa, è una delle più importanti opere storiche dedicate al Forte di Fuentes ed al territorio della Valtellina, particolarmente apprezzata per l'importantissimo apparato di fonti e documenti citati al suo interno. Il Forte di Fuentes, posizionata a Colico in provincia di Lecco, sorge sulla collina di Monteggio nella piana detta oggi Pian di Spagna. Esso sorge in una posizione strategica importantissima tra Valchiavenna, Valtellina e l'Alto Lario. La sua costruzione risale all'inizio del XVII° secolo quando Pedro Enriquez de Acevedo, Conte di Fuentes, governatore dello Stato di Milano per conto della corona di Spagna, decise di erigere qui una grande fortificazione per controllare l'ingresso ai valichi alpini. La sua costruzione iniziò il 25 ottobre del 1603 e terminò l'11 giugno del 1604. L'autore del progetto fu l'ingegnere militare Gabrio Busca. Il forte, dalla sua posizione privilegiata, fu al centro della storia della Valtellina per più di due secoli, fino a quando, gli austriaci, verso la fine del settecento, lo considerarono inutile militarmente. Per la precisione, l'ultimo governatore del fu il barone Domenico Schroder che venne scacciato dalle truppe napoleoniche nel 1796.
