Además, ahonda en cuestiones como la indefinición de los límites entre lo privado y lo público, o el creciente proceso de medicalización de las sociedades avanzadas, entre otras. En esta publicación, Soledad Liaño pone el foco en la individualidad de la obra de Applebroog, que dificulta su encuadre en una corriente concreta y que puede verse como una resistencia a ser encorsetada en clichés de discursos hegemónicos y unívocos. Destaca también la potencia discursiva e iconográfica que, sin renunciar al humor y la ironía, evoca referencias literarias (entre ellas al teatro de Samuel Beckett), y artísticas. Se incorporan, asimismo, extractos de una extensa entrevista oral realizada por Grace H. Glueck en 2008 que aborda desde aspectos biográficos a su relación con la tecnología, con otros artistas, o su posicionamiento feminista; y una selección de sus cuadernos rojos e imágenes de la instalación en el Reina Sofía, su mayor retrospectiva hasta la fecha.
