The book concludes with a survey of the many views of what a modern Islamic order should be and an assessment of Islam`s future in the late 20th Century. Jansen packs a great deal of information into two hundred pages; indeed, the wealth of detail, ranging across the full extent of the Muslim world, is the most valuable aspect of the book.
