Years after Smokey (no "the") Bear began warning Americans of the dangers of forest fires, he was the star of his own Gold Key comic book. From his cabin in the forest, Smokey dutifully answers fire distress calls from his talking animal friends. He is also involved in a myriad of other slapstick adventures with colorful forest denizens, including Gabby the mountain lion and Benny the bunny.
