Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Take a look at the wild, bold, colorful, and naughty designs that have swelled men's chests throughout necktie history. Follow the development of this manly fashion, from fabrics to tie care, and enjoy an astounding kaleidoscope of colors and motifs. Hundreds of neck and bow ties from the late twentieth century are displayed in 340 color pictures. The designs range from the incredible "Bold Look" ties of the late 1940s and early 1950s to the thinly conservative ties of the late 1950s. The early 1960s produced mundane ties, but Pop, Op, and Psychedelic Art ushered in another era in the late 1960s and early 1970s called the "Peacock Look," characterized by extremely wide ties and extravagantly wild prints. Finally, take a tour of the stylistic progression ties made through the 1980s and 1990s. From fashion to fancy, the tie offers a touch of color and brightness to the otherwise understated world of men's clothing. Here are hundreds of ties shown in full color photographs, documenting the wide range of style in the last half of the twentieth century. A discussion of fabrics, knots, and tie care is included along with a price guide to this manly fashion. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. In the fall of 1991 Roger de la Burdé held an exhibition of some of his art collection at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts, Anderson Gallery. This is the published catalog for the exhibit, titled "Private Stories, Selections from the de la Burdé Collection". The exhibit featured the paintings of Michael Goldberg, Rainer Gross, Jay Milder, and Jeff Way, and was was held from August 23 to October 20, 1991. A typed letter from Roger de la Burdé to a potential patron, dated September 1991, is signed in black ink by Burdé. . The de la Burdé story , itself, became anything but private, when in March of 1992 he was found dead from a bullet wound to the head. Roger de la Burdé was a controversial person, hailing from Poland, who styled himself a count. He owned considerable collections of art, focusing on African Art and Modern Art. The catalog here presented is of Contemporary Art, and has striking color reproductions of the paintings. The letter, signed by Burdé in ink, was found pressed between the leaves of the catalog, and is addressed to a potential patron of the arts and typed on his personal stationery, which has printed at the top, Roger Z. Cte de la Burdé, Windsor, Powhatan, Virginia. The letter is dated September 12, 1991. CATEGORY : Art Exhibition Catalog TITLE : Private Stories - Selections from the de la Burdé Collection ARTISTS : Michael Goldberg, Rainer Gross, Jay Milder, Jeff Way TEXT : Leslie A. CONDITION -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and presentable, with the following particulars noted :: -- Interior is clean and unmarked; there is fading along spine fold and edge - most extensive on rear cover; a small impact dent on the front cover is barely perceptible, but has extended through all the pages in a slightly more obvious manner - this is not so egregious and displays on the interior as a small dent and surface wrinkle. The letter is pristine.
